@BassMan: I spoke the truth. It's not my fault you can't see it, but keep sticking your head in the sand and enjoy having less purchasing options.
I've never paid less for games than I have using steam so I'm not sure what to be angry about. 🤷

Steam is a monopoly, that is a fact. You also have less purchasing options because there are no physical versions of games on PC, again facts.
No anger from me, maybe you need to sharpen your emotion radar as its way off.
I'm happy for you to argue against my points instead of throwing out the "anger card" or changing the narrative to prices.

You know what I see when I stick my head in the sand? I see Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, GOG, itch.io, MS Store, Game Pass, etc., and a crazy amount of key sites where I can buy cheap keys for various digital platforms. I play Battlefield regularly and you know how many BF games I own on Steam? 0. I am playing Lords of the Fallen on Gamepass and that has nothing to do with Steam. I am playing Cyberpunk on GOG. Plenty of options to buy and play games available.
Imagine gaming on a console where you have to buy proprietary hardware to play the games, pay a fee to play online, play at inferior quality, and then being locked into an ecosystem where there is only one digital storefront owned by the console manufacturer, and then trying to come in a thread and talk shit about the lack of options on PC....
Keep on trolling though, while the rest of us laugh at you.
Here, take another L...
I am always surprised every time folks are shocked when someone says Steam has a monopoly.😂
I am never surprised when multiple trolls enter a thread.
Some people pick a funny hill to die on....
Are you all seriously going trying to argue that Steam isn't a monopoly in PC gaming?🤔

All that and Steam owns like 80% of the market, which is a monopoly, again facts.
Gaben tricked you into giving away your purchasing rights and left you with digital only, and no way to sell them on trade them in etc.
The platform tribalism is strong in this thread and this is evident in the last several posts.
Anyways, if Steam has a monopoly in the PC space, why there is no action by any government (including the Australian government) to break its hold on the PC market?

You can review the laws on monopolies to find your answer but generally speaking government intervenes when monopolies trigger certain behaviors. Monopolies are not illegal by simply existing. Google has a monopoly in the search engines for many many years and only recently have they been challenged for anti-competitive practices.

Other than Nintendo, consoles are currently pointless. You can play all their games on PC and more. Console exclusives limit your options for some games if using Xbox or playstation, but everything is on PC.
You need a PC anyway for work and study might as well get one with a mid range video card and use it to play games.
@last_lap: The majority of console game sales are digital. Did Gabe trick console gamers? Did Gabe trick both Sony and MS into releasing digital only versions of their consoles? Did Gabe trick the movie watchers into streaming and digital movie purchases? Did Gabe trick music listeners into MP3 and streaming? It looks like people prefer digital media and there aren't many fucks given about trading or reselling stuff.
