Circana, a research firm previously known as NPD, has put out a new chart showcasing the top 10 games in the US broken down by platform with the most "active users" for the week ending June 1. Fortnite and Call of Duty continue to be juggernauts on consoles, while Counter-Strike 2 dominates the Steam list.
What's notable is that two new free-to-play releases are making a splash on these charts. Ubisoft's XDefiant hits the No. 4 spot on PS5, while it sits even higher on Xbox Series X|S at No. 3. Meanwhile, MultiVersus cracked the top 10 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC with Steam.
These lists are tough to break into, as they're filled with longtime live-service games Fortnite, Call of Duty, Roblox, Minecraft, and Grand Theft Auto V. XDefiant launched on May 21, while MultiVersus came out May 28 after previous betas and early-access time periods. It'll be intriguing to see what sort of staying power these games might have over the coming weeks and months.
Speaking of which, Circana executive director Mat Piscatella noted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that "most Fallout games have now fallen out of the top 10" after the video game series saw massive player boosts following the success of the Prime Video TV show. Only Fallout 4 charted on Steam at No. 9.
