Seriously thinking of selling up PS and Xbox and buying PC.

I have a fairly powerful laptop (dell xps) from work (I7, 32gb ssd etc) and am considering an External GPU in a Razer Core X to begin with.

Anyone had experiance of this, any thoughts or recommendations please?

I don't have any experience with external GPUs, so I don't know what kind of bandwidth limitations or latency issues there are with running it external. It seems like a good option based on your current setup. If is not performing to your liking, you can always build a PC and then put the GPU in it. So, it is a low risk move.

At first I said go for it because your laptop is compatible, then I though about the cost vs brand new gaming laptop or gaming PC and I said to myself why wont I check performance benchmarks eGPU vs GPU:

Don't waste your money on it TBH, yes it'll give you performance boost but you'll be gaining 50% of the GPU you'll choose to install - also that Razer Core isn't cheap - it's 300$ - that's the price of RTX4060 a good modern GPU for 1080p.

Yeah, that is pretty bad and if it is $300, I would rather just put that money towards a new build.
