Good news, that game franchise people stopped giving a shit about a long time ago is back instantly driven into the ground by EA from a has-been developer is back. With no gameplay and diverse elfs and shit. Even has an asain one. Crazy.

Yea it looked terrible. This is make or break for Bioware and it looks like this may be what closes them down.

The trailer didn’t have enough information either way. I’m mostly interested in how it plays and also how grindy it will be.

I need to see more of Dragon Age: Veildguard before I make the final judgment rather I want to support Bioware. And I struggle with Inquisition last-gen as it is. If this game flops, I personally don't expect Bioware to stay longer or even before they can start with Mass Effect 4.

It did give off some mobile game vibes, which I wasn't liking.

But as others have said, it's way too early to draw any major conclusions.

Heck SuSquad was exactly that. And I tried that Skull & bones free week thingamajig for a few hours and I couldn't escape the feeling either.

I like what I saw. The only thing I am truly worried about is that the trailer kind of sets the tone for fast, action-oriented gameplay. I want strategy as in Origins.

Dragon age has always felt very woke to me. Since at least the second.

I can't say for sure, because I haven't played the series, but from the trailers and let's play all the characters design always seem super gay.

I don't think gay is bad, but it's not what draws me to a game so have always skipped them.

Still, I don't think this is new.

Couldn't even finish Inquisition. DA:O was excellent, and 2 was fairly solid but nowhere near the first. After that... Meh.

@lundy86_4: I found the first one uninteresting. I tried playing it several times and each time I found something else to play.😂 To be fair I played it past the hype. 2 storyline was so dumb and Inquisition was fine.🤷🏽‍♂️

@Pedro: Different strokes and all that. I preferred the first due to the gameplay and story. 2 100% suffered with regards to story and just being hyper-focused (been years since I played). Inquisition was 100% fine, but just didn't rope me in... Tried a few times and just kept moving on.

Will give the new game a shot, but literally zero hype because Bioware/EA. Plus the trailer... Ehhh.

@lundy86_4: The trailer didn't give any meaningful direction for what the game would be like but I look forward to seeing what they do this time around. Bioware hasn't released anything for a while.

Same, I've really struggled to even attempt to finishing Inquisition when it came out. Back during the early days of the 8th gen, it was hailed as the best RPG due to there was barely any good RPG games at the time.

I don't have any love for this franchise other than Dragon Age: Origins, this trailer didn't exactly win me over. I do need to see more of it before I write it off.

@davillain: I tried to stick with Inquisition and probably put in a dozen hours or so on seperate occasions, but just couldn't keep it up. Inquisition was just a bit of a drag amongst other games.

As for this game, the trailer definitely didn't inspire confidence. Like Ragnarok said, gives off mobile vibes.

@Pedro: Nope, not really any direction for the game. Just don't hold high hopes. As for Bioware, I liked the Mass Effect Legendary series, but Anthem and ME: Andromeda just really kinda shit the bed for me personally.

Never got into Dragon Age, but I might start now. Anyhow, they're showing more off in a couple days. Trailer says gameplay premiere June 11th.

Dragon Age origins 1 and 2 had grit to them, they also had a more serious violent tone to them.

Also could be the bright colors and the Marvel movie like presentation.

But the franchise did felt kind of gay to me. Not in a derogative way, just meaning as attending to the sensitivities of gay people.

Pd: oh wait after seeing the trailer for dragon age 2, I know where I am getting it from. It's from the way the dwarf dresses, showing his chest like he was shirtless. That was one of the reasons I always thought it aimed towards a gay audience.

I think dragon age inquisition kind of reinforced that for me afterwards. They always show this bald elf that looks very feminine.

No other series of games have taken such a phenomenal shit like DA.

Shame too. Origins was a great game. World and lore was really cool and the real-time pause battles were fun. The sequel shit all over it. Inquisition was a hilariously bad fkn game.

I really enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition. The second game was good but had a lot of repetitive looking places in the game which dragged it down. Thought the combat was pretty fun. This new game has a different looking art style then I was expecting but I still think it looks ok. Definitely need to see more on the game but I’m hoping that it turns out well.

Now it's just a CG trailer with no gameplay or anything but that really did nothing for me. Weird art and trailer pacing means I've already forgotten every one of these characters and have no real concept for what the story and game will be. It looked like some throwaway mobile game's trailer.

With the game being vaporware for near a decade, they need to do a lot better showing this off than that, otherwise I'll just shrug and go play more BG3.

It looks like some executives saw Fortnite and went: clearly the kids these days like cartoonish colorful graphics, that will probably make us more money.

Maybe someone there complained that the art was not consistent with previous versions, but nobody cared because dragon age has not been consistent in anything across its iterations.

Tried a Dragon Age once, think it was the first one. It sucked. And that's the one people say is the best.

This is straight up mobile aesthetic they got going. And you know what? It makes perfect sense. Remember how this game was supposed to be a GaaS game, and then EA "allowed" Bioware to make a singleplayer title after Anthem bombed? You thought they were just gonna throw away all these dogshit mobile assets? Of course not. So this is very obviously an art direction that was originally created to be colorful and goofy to please the Fortnite crowd (lots of GaaS/mobile games do this. its low effort and easier to bait kids to try their POS), and we're now stuck with it. I say **** off, Bioware. You're an irrelevant studio. You have been replaced by the real Bioware, they're called Larian.

Expecting this to be in high 60's to very low 70's on meta. Bomb in sales, and shitload of people fired. This is the future of this developer.

As meh as this is, argue this is still one of the worst trailers ever made.

They knew the audience for this was DnD nerds, so some dickhead EA marketing person tried to "cool it up", with max cringe effect.

I really enjoyed inquisition. More so than even the first dragon age. At first glance, this has me worried. The art design feels woefully off and it doesn't feel like a connection to inquisition... The trailer showed off characters like a 5x5 hero shooter too which is painful.

Do you think developers played single player games in their youth or are they just making things up as they go?

Still, show me gameplay so I can make a more educated guess at how well this game is shaping up.

I don't disagree. If dragon age isn't an actual BioWare game then it's gonna be lights out.

I don't think its a matter of "if" anymore. In fact, i am predicting important folks at the studio to be leaving some months before the game launches, same as what we've seen with DICE and their BF2042 and Rocksteady and the Suicide Squad. If we're seeing this, be certain that the game is a disaster.

@hardwenzen: ill maintain an "if" until they show gameplay and give scope to the game. What I saw in the trailer made me feel like it was a new ip, high fantasy version of fortnite and that is flaccid city.
