Gears of War E-Day Trailer

So the new Gears game will take place 14 years before Gears of War 1.

never like Gears series. just cover shoot regen health. ruined third person genre.

Honestly if this is just Gears 1 or 2 in gameplay I'm all up for that.

Gears has a fun loop:

cover based combat, chainsaw up close, assault rifle and shotgun depending on the range.

There is enough variation in Gears 1 to keep things interesting, there is that level at night with the Kryll, there is the vehicle sections, ...

Of course I think that Max Payne is a better first person shooter. But I'm not gonna cry over the games that this industry refuses to make, I'd rather enjoy the games that they do make.

In fact there was a Max Payne type game the other week with El Paso Elsewhere, but you didn't play that one.

Regen health is not exclusive to third-person shooters, as CoD a first-person shooter was doing regen health long before gears was made. So, regen health is a non-issue. And Gears didn't invent the cover system either.

Saying RE Remake is the only good third-person shooter just shows how much of a casual you really are. And I noticed you like top complain others hating on games but go but don't acknowledge it when someone calls you out on doing the same thing.

I played GEARS, RE4, Alan wake and many other third person games.

RE4-R is best TPS in long while. since Max Payne 1. while Alan wake 1 was also excellent sadly ruined AW2.

between Max payne and RE4-R there's plenty off good TPS release but either most of them are average or just bad.

RE4-R save it.

Gears popularize cover mechanic and this ruined TPS shooters forever.

I'm up for more Gears. I love the cover mechanics, forces you to strategic thinking. I just hope they push the horror side of things.

Remnant 2 is a better third person shooter/game than RE 4 Remake, RE is for casuals such as yourself, but you wouldn't play Remnant because it has a ton of replayability, something you don't understand.

And again, you won't own up to hating on games while complaining in the lounge how other people hate on games.

Will play it for the multiplayer. If the Campaign is a proper game and not a wanna be movie I will give a try.

I could never get into this series. I tried to when I briefly owned an Xbox 360 Elite. MS games just have a different feel than PS games. :/ Not sure what exactly, but it's definitely noticeable. And wasn't another game recently announced that takes place an (X) amount of years from the first one? Why are we doing this? Seems lazy.

Re4 influenced Dead Space and in turn Dead Space influenced RE 4 remake.

Good trailer and a prequel is a good idea because the story in gears 4 and especially 5 is a cluesterfuck. But if the gameplay is the same old cover shooter, it won't do well, and die quickly.

I've talk to several long time Gear fans and the trailer really hype up everyone, and for a good reason. Gears vs Locus (not the new Locus) war is what everyone misses the series is for. Marcus coming back and Dom too is what I missed about. As a long time Gears of War fan, I couldn't be even more happier and as @robert_sparkes said, if its going back to horror theme, I'll be even more happier about that. Just don't bring back Cliff B. for this one.

I should also point out that Gears of War Judgment was also an E-Day prequel game and despite it wasn't for everyone, I actually like that Gears game, and its way better than Gears 5 for damn sure.

Going back to E Day was the right move. Marcus and Dom better than the gears 5 cast

Every single TPS that came before it. It dumbed down the TPS genre for console crowd just like Halo/CoD dumbed down FPSes. In case of Halo/CoD, at least the art direction was good, Gears didn't even have that. Slow walking 10 tons meat tanks.

Even the arcade ones that came after it, like MP3, Vanquish and Warframe are far better.

I dunno man, seems it's still an open question but it does sound plausible as filler between now and the launch of Gears E Day. Or between E Day and Gears 6. Eather way I'm for it especially since GamePass has me covered. lol :P

I don't think you're really supposed to. They're comic book-like shaped characters. Gears is like a summer blockbuster action movie produced by Michael Bay. It's doesn't have Oscar worthy performances or script.

Never got into the series because the gameplay was a bit too stiff for my liking and the story felt too nonsensical. At least there are many who enjoy it to keep it alive which will keep the fans happy.

Yes it's for the nostalgia, it wasn't a deep trailer. Marcus blew his head off, Dom saved him from falling in a crater. It wasn't a emotional stir, it's "WE BACK BABY" vibes

The music is a reference to the OG trailer for the OG gears of war game, don't read into it any more than that

In my opinion the coalition are ms best studio the gears games still hold up today against anything on the market. Hivebusters still looks insane.

Just remembered the intro to Gears 4 was pretty cool ... playing through battles in different points of Gears history. Was one of them set during E day?
