House of the Dragon actor Ewan Mitchell plays Aemond Targaryen on the Game of Thrones spinoff series House of the Dragon, but the actor has never seen the original show. He told ComicBook that he intentionally avoided the original fantasy series so he could play Aemond with fresh eyes.

"I haven't seen the original Game of Thrones," Mitchell said. "I have a confession to make. I've never seen it and I didn't want to watch it going into this role. I didn't want it to inform my decisions in any way, shape, or form, you know, whether it be consciously or subconsciously. I wanted to bring something fresh. Aemond is one of a kind, you know."

Given the events of Season 1 and specifically its momentous conclusion, Aemond will no doubt have a larger role to play in House of the Dragon Season 2, which premieres June 16.

In addition to House of the Dragon, HBO is moving ahead with another series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is set for release in 2025. There were initially plans for a Jon Snow series but it never got off the page.

Beyond the Game of Thrones series, HBO's highly anticipated The Last of Us Season 2 is in the works and is set for release in 2025.
